Dozens of women spent the night on the streets of Manhattan Friday to raise awareness about homeless youth.

Participants slept outside the Covenant House headquarters last night on West 41st Street in Midtown.

The non-profit group provides shelter, education and other resources for homeless youth.

The women got a chance to interact with kids staying in the shelter and hear their stories, while raising money for its programs.

"It puts things into perspective, like we think it's a challenge for one night, can you imagine like sleeping — having to sleep out where it's not like a cute little thing that we're doing on the side," said one woman who participated.

"I think it has been sending a lot of messages about it, that Covenant House isn't just giving a bed and then throwing them out in the morning," said another. "It's helping kids have this support and the love and all the things that we give to our kids that we can give to somebody else's kids and you know, make a little bit of a difference."

Participants raised more than $350,000.
