A tourist was approached Thursday night in Central Park by a man who told him that he could have sex with a boy he had with him for money, according to police.

According to investigators, a 50-year-old tourist from California said he was approached by a man around 35 years old who had an 11-year-old boy with him, just before midnight at the Bow Bridge near West 74th Street.

The younger man told the tourist that he could have sex with the boy for $300, according to the police report.

The older man refused, and immediately notified police.

"To hear that, especially in this neighborhood, is very uncommon," one man said near the park. "Being a parent, it's very shocking and appalling."

"It's absolutely disgusting," another man said. "I don't even know what to say."

Police are now searching for the younger man and the boy.

The police department said the 35-year-old wore a black coat with a fur hood, and the boy wore an orange or red jacket.
