Manhattan is not exactly prime territory for golfers, but the city's biggest golf expo is getting under way at the Chelsea Piers Golf Club, just in time for golf season. NY1's Roger Clark checked it out — and got some help with his swing, too.

At 6:30 a.m., they are already out hacking at Chelsea Piers Golf Club.

"By the time 7 o'clock rolls around, you have two or three floors full of folks," David Beltre, the club's general manager, said. "Right before work, or just simply golfers who regularly, every other day at least, come down and hit golf balls."

Saturday will be an especially busy day at the club: it's the 13th Annual Golf Fest, the city's longest-running golf expo.

There will be demos from golf manufacturers on the latest equipment, and even activities for kids.

It's all just in time for the golfer's favorite time of year, when the cold weather breaks and the links are calling.

"Heading into May and June, this is the prime time golf season," said Tom Bopp, the academy manager of the Chelsea Piers Golf Club.

As part of Golf Fest, you can get a complimentary 15-minute lesson from one of the golf pros at the Chelsea Piers Golf Club. As you can see in the video above, however, I can probably use more than 15 minutes.

Luckily, the club's Head Pro Marjorie Jones was on-hand to give me a few pointers.

My game is more suited for the mini golf course, but Jones says that Golf Fest is a good opportunity for not so experienced golfers like me to learn more about it.

"You don't have to be a golfer to do this. You can come and be brand new at golf, and see if it might be something that would interest you," Jones said. "Or if you are a golfer, seasoned or not seasoned, we're here to help."

I may need Golf Fest more than any one. It runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday.
