A group of students learn that butterflies are more than just beautiful, they also help the environment.

The Queens County Farm held a workshop Wednesday about Monarch Butterflies.

Preschoolers learned how to preserve the butterflies' habitat and how they contribute to their ecosystem.

Experts also taught them about milkweed, which is what the butterflies eat.

"And it's important here at Queens farm that New York City kids understand the importance of monarch butterflies and how they're threatened." said EPA Regional Administrator, Judith Enck
