Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a massive fire Sunday that burned through several buildings in Brooklyn.

The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. at 270 Arlington Avenue near Linwood Street in Cypress Hills.

Fire officials say they believe the fire started in a garage and quickly spread to two other homes and a church.

"The buildings are very tight together. They're all wood frame buildings. They're very tight together, large body of fire - fire extends rapidly in these types of buildings," said FDNY Chief of Department James Leonard.

Firefighters got the flames under control around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

There was a partial collapse inside the building where the fire started.

Eight people suffered minor injuries, including seven firefighters.

A ninth was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
