Police have released a sketch of a man who they say tried to rob a child in Queens.

It happened on 21st Avenue near 43rd Street in Astoria.

Investigators say the man in the sketch above approached an 11-year-old boy from behind just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police say he then put his arm around the boy's shoulder and tried to take his cellphone out of his pocket.

Authorities say the boy resisted and the man ran away.

The suspect is described as around 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds. He is said to have red hair.
