Emergency crews are investigating what caused a water main break and steam leak in Midtown that caused a few traffic headaches during the Monday morning rush.

The FDNY says it happened just before 9:40 a.m.

West 58th Street between Sixth and Eighth Avenues and Sixth Avenue between West 57th and 59th streets were closed while crews investigate what is causing the leak.

Con Edison says steam was shut off to the area.

"I was in my bedroom, and I woke up, and it was strange because my apartment was filling with steam, and, the door people were very concerned, and at that moment the Fire Department came and started to evacuate," said one resident at the scene.

Officials say there are no safety concerns or reported injuries.
