Drivers will soon be able to use their cell phones to pay at parking meters all over the city.

Mayor de Blasio says "Pay by Phone" will be available at all metered spots by the end of the year.

The technology expands on a pilot program that ran in the Bronx in 2013.

It lets drivers pay without having to put paper receipts on their dashboard.

Traffic enforcement agents will use new tablet devices to check whether a car is paid up.

Drivers use their phones to tell the system where they're parking and how long they plan to be there.

There are more than 13,000 muni-meters around the city covering 85,000 parking spots.

The meters will still accept coins, parking cards, and credit cards for payment.
