A 60-year-old man is recovering from minor injuries after police say he was slashed while riding on a subway in Midtown during the Friday morning rush.

It happened around 8:15 a.m. on the northbound N, Q, R line.

Police say it all began when the victim bumped into a man on a crowded train near the 57th Street and Seventh Avenue stop.

An argument ensued and that's when police say the attacker pulled out a sharp object and struck the victim in the chin and hand after the two bumped into each other in a crowded subway car.

The victim stayed on and got off at 63rd Street, where he reported the attack to police.

There have been at least 12 subway stabbing/slashing incidents in January, as reported by the NYPD's Transit Bureau Chief Joseph Fox who reported the numbers this week to the MTA committee meeting.

He said only one of the attacks was random and the rest stemmed from robberies or scuffles.

The victim in Friday's incident has been treated and released.

One commuter NY1 spoke with said the attack is unnerving

"It is something that makes me concerned, yes," she said. "I ride the subway every day, and sometimes a few times a day, so it does."Police have not released a description of the attacker.
