A Brooklyn woman is under arrest after her young daughter died Tuesday morning after a fire broke out inside their home.

Leila Aquino, 20, is charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to sources, police believe she was out drinking and left her daughter unattended when the fire started before 7 a.m. inside the second floor apartment located at 755 Monroe Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

After the fire was put out about three hours later, Aquino approached officers on the scene and told them that her daughter was inside the home.

Firefighters went inside and found Kalenah Muldrow, 2, unconscious under a bed.

The child was pronounced dead at the hospital and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Some neighbors tell NY1 they are shocked and say when they saw the young girl she always seemed well cared for.

"It makes me feel sad and a knot in my stomach maybe they could have saved her but nobody knew that," said one neighbor.

"I'm really sad and kind of desperate for the mother and picturing that scene," said another neighbor.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what started the fire.

The city Administration for Children's Services says it's investigating as well.
