A Brooklyn bank is helping a soup kitchen as it deals with a food shortage.

Officials from Investors Bank came together at the Masbia Soup Kitchen Network to announce an emergency matching grant.

The bank agrees to match every donation made by the public up to $25,000.

Officials say it should serve as an example for others to get involved.

"Being in the community and being a part of the community and having our employees understand the meaning of volunteering and what is the need in the community from that, it brings us closer to the individuals who we serve as a bank as well," said Roni Schoyfer, a vice president at Investors Bank.

"Hopefully it will be an example to other corporate names that sometimes sit on the sidelines," said City Councilman Jumaane Williams. "We wanna make sure they stay in the game and assist as well."

The soup kitchen says because of the demand, it needs about 30,000 pounds of food every week.
