For the first time since the Sept. 11 attacks, TV stations will broadcast from the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan.

The Durst Organization, the company that leases space in One World Trade Center, announced Wednesday that New York City channels 2, 4, 13 and 47 will relocate their transmitters to the 408-foot spire atop the building.

The 90th floor will serve as a communications hub for the stations.

Twelve local television stations were broadcasting from the North Tower of the World Trade Center when the Twin Towers were attacked in 2001.

When that platform was destroyed, most of the stations relocated their transmitters to the top of the Empire State Building.

A source said it's possible additional stations could eventually return their transmitters to the new One World Trade Center. At 1,776 feet, it is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
