Dogs love to go out, but to concerts?

The ones who attended a unique gathering in Times Square sure seemed to enjoy it, and they can come back for more.

The concert features a special performance by violinist Laurie Anderson and her short film "Heart of a Dog."

Music was played from speakers made just for dogs, drawing barks from many of the furry fans. Their humans sported futurist "silent disco" headphones to tune in.

Anderson's film is dedicated to September 11th first responder dogs, and her own late pup.

"The idea of the film is, you know, what happens in that time between death and passing into the new life. What might it be like if you were seeing a dog's memories," said Sherry Dobbin, director of Times Square Arts. "So it was really important that because this is from a dog's perspective, and in respect to dogs, that dogs be a part of this experience as well."

"It's wonderful to be in the middle of a dog party," said one attendee. "They're social beings, and this is great."

"Hudson over here is going to listen to a concert. I think it's nice that he finally gets to go out for an event designed for him," said another.

The event is part of Times Square's Midnight Moment, a monthly showcase of art free and open to the public.

Heart of a Dog will show from 11:57 p.m. to midnight every night in January.
