Several children's organizations receive donations thanks to a local restaurant.

An Applebee's executive joined the YMCA's nursery children for story time in Eltingville, Thursday. The restaurant handed out proceeds from its "Breakfast with Santa" fundraiser to 7 organizations, including the Y.

Applebee's raised more than $10,000 from the event in which families paid to dine with Santa.

“We can't be more thankful for Applebee's coming out to the Y today, and raising funds for our annual campaign that goes towards scholar-shipping kids into our programs,” said the South Shore YMCA’s Tom Swanciger.

“Anytime that we can be involved in doing anything that helps the children of Staten Island, it's been very beneficial for us and we feel really happy about being able to do whatever we can,” added Applebee’s Area Director, Joe Bertha.

The kids presented Applebee's with apple art to show their gratitude. Camelot Counseling, Have a Heart Foundation, and the Staten Island Children's Museum also received a portion of the money.
