A man wanted for questioning in the death of his girlfriend in Queens is now in police custody.
Officials say Carlos Leon, also known as Carlos Alvarado, was taken into custody in Miami. The Queens district attorney is now trying to have him extradited to New York.
Police say they got a call about an assault inside an apartment in Jamaica back on October 17. When they arrived, they found the suspect's girlfriend, 28-year-old Miriam Velez-Samayoa, unconscious in a bathtub with burns all over her body.
Velez-Samayoa was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
