A woman was killed in Brooklyn Thursday evening by a hit-and-run driver who then injured nearly a dozen other people as he fled the scene.

Police say it happened at Pennsylvania and Stanley Avenues in East New York at around 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say the woman was trying to get into her parked car when she was struck.

The driver then sped off, hitting six other cars and injuring at least 10 people as he tried to flee.

Police say he then got out of his car and tried to run away, but officers were able to apprehend him.

Both the driver and the victim were taken to Brookdale Hospital.

The woman was pronounced dead shortly after.

The driver's condition is not yet known.
