Believe it or not Black Friday sales are now just hours away.

Some big retailers are set to open their doors a day early, on Thursday,  some as early as 3 p.m.

Black Friday is traditionally a day when stores hope to get their books from the red, into more profitable black numbers.

Many offer steep discounts on certain items, hoping to lure shoppers through the doors.

Today,  J.C. Penny will be among the first to open its doors along with Toys-R-Us and Best Buy.

While other retailers like Costco, TJ Maxx and Burlington Coat Factory have chosen the more traditional route of keeping their sales on Friday.
