President Obama honored some New York legends in a special ceremony at the White House Tuesday.

Yankees great Yogi Berra and former Brooklyn Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm were posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedrom.

In 1968, Chisholm became the first African-American woman to be elected to Congress.

She also ran for the Democratic nomination for President in 1972.

Chisholm passed away in 2005 at the age of 80.

Meanwhile, Berra won 10 World Series rings in a Hall-of-Fame career with the Yankees.

Berra — who passed away in September at age 90 — was also known for quirky sayings that became known as "Yogi-isms."

"He lived his life with pride and humility and an original open mind," President Obama said during the ceremony. "One thing we know for sure, if you can't imitate him don't copy him."

Willie Mays was also among those honored.

The baseball Hall-of-Famer started his career with the New York Giants in the 1950s and played his final seasons with the Mets in the early 1970s.

Seventeen medals were handed out in total.
