A new 16,000-square-foot plaza was unveiled in Washington Heights Monday.

According to the Department of Transportation, the Plaza De Las Americas creates a new town square on West 175th Street between Broadway and Wadsworth Avenue.

The plaza will feature pedestrian lighting and benches, tree planting and decrotive pavings.

The DOT also announced the OneNYC Equity Program for technical assistance and maintenance for plazas citywide. This new program will cost $1.4 million.
