A suspect says he was roughed up by police during an arrest in Brooklyn last month.

Surveillance video shows the arrest at a bodega on the corner of Fourth Avenue and 56th Street in Sunset Park.

Police say 21-year-old Daniel Shevchenko had just broken into the car of a private agency EMT, who took part in the arrest.

Officers and the EMT can be seen punching Shevchenko repeatedly. They say he was resisting arrest.

City officials say the incident is under investigation, but one community activist says the officers went too far.

"We're demanding that these police officers are held accountable," the community activist said. "And we're tired of the same old rhetoric where they just say that they're going to bring about changes and re-training the police officers. That's not enough. They need to discipline the police officers."

"It is a matter that is the subject of an internal affairs investigation, which the CCRB will be coming into because it is probably more appropriately in their domain, relative to use of force," said Police Commissioner William Bratton.

Shevchenko is facing charges that include grand larceny and resisting arrest.
