The United Nations celebrates its 70th anniversary with the unveiling of a new art installation.

U.N. Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon attended Saturday's "U.N. Day" ceremony in Central Park.

The piece called Enlightened Universe was sculpted by renowned Spanish artist Cristobal Gabarron.

It features an interactive sphere surrounded by a spiral of 70 life-sized figures.

Leaders say the sculpture's message resonates with them.

"It's all about different people and nations being one and I think that just being installed in the landmark of the world here, in New York City, in the middle-of-it-all Central Park," said Angela Aquino of the Philippine Consulate. "I think that it's such a beautiful expression of oneness."

The figures link hands to signify global citizenship, and also represent human values defended by the U.N.
