A former Rikers correction officer has been sentenced to time behind bars.
Austin Romain was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for accepting more than $11,000 in bribes as part of a scheme to distribute marijuana to Rikers inmates.
Romain was convicted last December, along with another correction officer, Khlaif Phillips. He was sentenced to three years in prison last month for his role.
Over the weekend, another correction officer was arrested.
Charles Bracey is accused of smuggling contraband into the jail.
Investigators say a razor-edged tool was hidden in a paper sleeve and wrapped in black electrical tape.
City officials say he is the seventh correction employee arrested in the last five weeks on charges that contribute to violence and disorder at Rikers.
