The city has confirmed more cases of Legionnaires' disease in the Bronx.

The new cases in the Morris Park neighborhood bring the total up to 10.

All have been sickened since September 21.

Officials are looking at the cooling towers at a number of sites in the neighorhood.

Seven cooling towers tested positive, including those at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine, Lehman High School, Bronx State Psychiatric, Chase Bank and Calvary Hospital.

All the sites had already been disinfected and cleaned following an earlier outbreak over the summer, and that is being done again.

"Every cooling tower site that we visited, every building we visited was captured in our registrations system," said Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett. "All of them had been compliant with my order, but we also tested all of them because conditions can change, and we are actively monitoring the situation."

The Department of Education says students at Lehman High are not at risk and that there will be no disruption of classes.

Health officials say the bacteria is something that occurs naturally. They say there is no way to get rid of it completely, but they say they can be vigilant.

They are asking anybody who shows any symptoms to get tested immediately.
