The football field at Susan Wagner High School is empty and the gates locked. The city Department of Education on Wednesday suspended Wagner’s football, canceling all practices and games until further notice, while it investigates allegations that younger players were hazed during the team’s training camp upstate.

"It's frustrating being its my senior season I want to play my last year you know," said William Patsakos, a senior at Susan Wagner High School.

Patsakos was one of more than 50 players who met with the principal Wednesday to discuss what went on at the week long camp in Copake, about 100 miles north of the city. The team goes there every summer for training.

Parents who do not want to be identified tell NY1 that over several nights, varsity players hazed JV players. They allege that the varsity players shot at some of the younger players with a BB gun, drew inappropriate markings on them while they slept, and sat naked on their faces.

Many varsity athletes and parents we spoke with said that was hard to believe.

"Let me say this. It's not hazing. It's not hazing," said a parent.

"It's all speculation. It's all hearsay. We don't know," added another parent.

"I have been going to camp for four years and we have never had a problem,"  said Patsakos.

Patsakos says the JV and Varsity teams had their own separate cabins at the camp. He says while he was there he did not see or hear about any of the alleged incidents.

In a letter on the school’s website, Susan Wagner’s principal confirmed that some athletes had been accused of "student misconduct" and that a volunteer coach was suspended. He went on to write that the school has zero tolerance for misbehavior and that "anyone involved will be held accountable."

Some parents say they want those making the allegations to come forward.

"The person who is blaming everyone should come out and say listen this one did it this one did it. Let them get penalized," said a parent.

The sheriff's office in upstate Columbia County says no complaints have been filed.

Parents say the team’s first game, at home against Port Richmond on Saturday, has been canceled. Meaning this field will remain empty for now.
