Residents are crying foul over a nuisance that has become a real mess in Queens. NY1's Ruschell Boone filed the following report.

Pigeons are ruffling a lot of feathers in Flushing. Dozens of them have flocked to a small section of Parsons Boulevard between Kalmia and Jasmine Avenue and residents have had enough.

"They release their dump everywhere so it's annoying," said one neighborhood resident.

And by everywhere she means on people's homes, roofs, cars and on the sidewalk.

"There were pigeons on my roof and when they drop you know it's dirty.  A lot of germs.  You know what I mean? And sometime in my side door also. You know, they drop on the step you know and even my yard," said Vanna Chusuei, a Flushing resident.

Chusuei has lived in the neighborhood for decades. She says the pigeons moved in shortly after her neighbor did a few years ago. Residents have accused that homeowner of feeding the birds, because they mostly hang out on her property, but they say the woman denies it. NY1 tried to reach the woman, but got no answer.

There was also a bad smell coming from the home, but residents say that's not because of the pigeons. They say their neighbor is housing and feeding cats as well.

Every morning my husband clean the you know poop. The cat poop. You know it stinks in my yard. Sometimes I can see them feed the cat," Chusuei said.

Residents say they have called 311, but very little has been done to address the issue. The agency says it's not a violation to feed the pigeons but if it is causing them to gather and make a mess the person feeding them must clean it up.

Sometime they clean it with the water on the sidewalk but still the water runs on the front of my house, you know in front the house and you can smell it," Chusuei said.

The city Health Department says it's now looking into the matter. It wants to make sure the pigeons are not posing a health risk to the public.
