A Queens woman is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting her boyfriend and setting his body on fire in Astoria over the weekend.

Emergency responders found 43-year-old Shawn McWhorter unconscious and on fire Saturday behind a building located at 27-26 14th Street in Astoria.

They pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Investigators say he was shot in the torso.

Police say when they questioned his girlfriend, 46-year-old Dawn Mcintosh, she quickly confessed to the crime.

"On his body we find a fingernail, and we notice that when we talk to his girlfriend she's missing a fingernail. We start speaking to her and she makes admission that she actually killed him. She shoots him twice in the torso.. she got two other people to help her get rid of the body, she put lighter fluid on him and then started the fire," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

Mcintosh is being charged with murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and tampering with physical evidence.

Her brother, 21-year-old Donte Watkins, is also facing evidence tampering charges.
