At an NYPD promotions ceremony Monday, Police Commissioner William Bratton offered up some opinions on his predecessor's new book.

Ray Kelly is releasing a book soon in which he discusses fighting terrorism and everyday crime, as well as race relations.

Kelly blasts Mayor Bill de Blasio for doing away with stop-and-frisk policies—a move Kelly says could make streets more dangerous.

Bratton offered support for the book, but not 100 percent agreement.

"I look forward to buying a copy of the book myself. I think Ray's work will contribute significantly to an undertsanding of the history of what's been going on in the city the last 25 years," Bratton said. "I certainly don't agree with the comment or the opinion—and everyone is entitled to an opinion—that the mayor has negatively impacted our public safety. Crime is down for the second year during this mayor's term of office."

Later this week, Bratton will talk about crime in August and security for the upcoming visit from Pope Francis.
