Broadway is in mourning after one its youngest stars died early Saturday morning.

Police say 21-year-old Kyle Jean-Baptiste fell four stories from a Brooklyn fire escape.

Jean-Baptiste recently joined the cast of "Les Miserables" as an ensemble member and understudy for the lead role of Jean Valjean.

He made history in July when he stepped in to play Valjean- becoming the youngest person and the first African American to play the role in a Broadway production.

We caught up some of the cast and crew of "Les Mis" outside the Imperial Theatre on West 45th street near Times Square.

They had nothing but praise for Jean-Baptiste.

"Always had a smile on his face, a goofball, silly. Not a malicious bone in his body. Just kind, a good person, you know, and that's something that supercedes anything—just being a good person. He will greatly be missed," one woman said.

"Kyle was amazing and when he went on the first night, I was blown away. I've never seen... I was conducting the night he went on, the first night, and it was spectacular," said one man.

A statement from the entire company says: "The entire Les Miserables family is shocked and devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of Kyle, a remarkable young talent and tremendous person who made magic and history in his broadway debut."
