Bike New York hosted a Bike Bonanza at Faber Park Saturday.

An instructor from the organization showed participants how to glide, pedal, and break all while keeping safe.

The DOT provided free helments to every kid and recycle-a-bicycle offered free repairs and bike swaps.

Organizers and participants say it' s the perfect way to get kids active and keep them safe.

"They understand that bicycling is something that's for fun but also that you have to make safe choices," said Theresa Barry, Director of Special Events with Vision Zero.

"They're taking time with the kids to really help them understand thow to ultimately ride a bike,"  stated resident Jason Johns.

"It's really fun to do it with all these kids," participant Olivia Moncayo said.
