Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Friday that bans the sale of powdered alcohol, known as Palcohol, across the state.

The governor and supporters say the powdered alcohol would attract underage drinkers because it's easier to hide than traditional liquor.

They also fear that if ingested or mixed incorrectly it could lead to unsafe levels of intoxication.

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau approved Palcohol earlier this year.

New York is now the 23rd state to have a powdered alcohol ban on the books.
