A group of high school students got the inside scoop Tuesday on what it's like to work at NY1.

The "Boss for a Day" event was organized by the PENCIL Fellows Program.

Participating students met with top NY1 executives for the day to learn about job experiences and get internship advice.

Students who stopped by NY1 said they learned some valuable lessons.

"How do you connect with your boss?" said one student.  "Basically, you just have to put yourself out there. That's one of the main messages they showed us today."

"I always wanted to know what happened behind the scenes from watching the channel since I was little," said a second student.

"I just got to see a whole other side to NY1," a third student said.  "I thought it was so interesting to see how so many people come together to make one show possible."

The PENCIL Fellows program is an intensive career training program that includes a six-week paid internship at a company in the city.
