A 15-year-old is in custody after a man was shot in Brooklyn.

It happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Throop Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Police recovered a gun from the scene.

They responded to a call and found a 63-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back outside of P.S. 59.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he's in stable condition.

Investigators say Tyrone Whidbee rode his bike to a park near the school and started shooting at a group of people who were barbecuing.

He began running, but officers caught up to him.

Whidbee is facing attempted murder and assault charges.
