Millions of Americans are traveling this Fourth of July weekend, and many city residents are trying to beat the rush.

At Penn Station, crowds of travelers were already waiting for trains Thursday night.

"I don't want to get stuck in traffic," said one traveler. "I always drive. Too much traffic."

"I've been through a lot of traveling, so I'm kind of used to it," said another.

"I'm going to be driving out to Ocean City tomorrow, so it probably will be busy, which I'm not looking forward to that," said a third.

"We're going to watch some fireworks and have some beer," said a fourth.

AAA estimates that nearly 42 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles. That's the most since 2007.

The Port Authority estimates that 4 million drivers will use the agency's bridges and tunnels.
