There's no word yet on what caused a water main to break in Brooklyn, sending water more than 100 feet into the air.

The break occurred around 4 p.m. Friday on Pennsylvania Avenue near the Spring Creek Towers complex in East New York.

Water was gushing for about two hours until sources say crews were able to stop the leak.

Witness: There was a lot of older people. There was people walking their dogs. There was like, I saw this woman, she had a child and they were sitting and watching the big flood up in the skies.
Q: So this could have went wrong with all of these people?
Witness: It could've, yeah.

Pennsylvania Avenue was closed to traffic between Flatlands and Vandalia avenues.

No residents lost water, but witnesses say everyone was astonished to see the water blasting out of the street.

No injuries were reported.
