Life is about to get a little bit brighter - and cooler - for a Staten Island teen with a rare disease.

New Jersey-based "Amergy Solar" is installing solar panels on John Hudson Dilgen's home free of charge.

The 13-year-old has a rare skin disorder called Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB.

The condition causes the skin to become so delicate that even the slightest touch can cause painful blisters throughout the body.

Dilgen needs the air-conditioning in his home year-round, causing a hefty utility bill.

Once the project is complete, Amergy says the Dilgens will see about $1,500 in energy savings each month.

"Almost every few months someone tries to do something amazing to help us and it always leaves a great impact on our lives," said Dilgen.

"What we're hoping for is just to give them peace of mind and some relief from their crazy, astronomical bills," said Ken DiLeo of Amergy Solar.

The total project is valued at $75,000.
