The New York City Police Department says officers responded to a Brooklyn apartment Tuesday morning to remove an alligator and nine snakes.

They say officers with the Special Operations Division had to get a warrant to enter the the apartment located at 1845 Atlantic Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The officers delivered the reptiles to the Bronx Zoo.

Police say Johnnie Morgan, 44, has been charged with reckless endangerment among other counts.  

Alligators - and venomous snakes - are on the list of illegal pets here in the city.

It's not yet known what kinds of snakes were removed from the location.
