The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has finally set a target date for the opening of the long-delayed 7 train extension to 34th Street.

That date is just under two years later than originally planned.

The extension to the new Hudson Yards station is set to open by September 13.

The MTA made that announcement Monday.

Its opening has been repeatedly pushed back. The station plagued by problems with its elevators.

“I have been there on a number on occasions. Last time I was there was, in effect, last Thursday. And the work is basically pretty much complete and we are running the last test and code compliance inspections,” says MTA Capital Construction President Michael Horodniceanu.

The city paid to build the cavernous $2.4 billion station.

Then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg took a ceremonial ride into it, just before leaving office in December 2013.
