The temperature was up on Sunday and so were sales at Andy's Italian Ices Food Truck.

"It's great to do business here," Kim Miscioscia of Andy’s Italian Ices said.

Miscioscia was selling cold treats and drinks along the St. George waterfront Sunday. She was invited bring her truck to the Staten Island Beach Fest. It's an annual event organized by the North Shore Business Association. Miscioscia says she goes to events across the borough and business is booming because Staten Islanders like the product she sells.

"We have over 50 flavors at all times on the truck, water and creme ices. We even offer a sugar free selection,” Miscioscia said.

Hundreds attended the festival but organizers say they expected more people to attend.  They also invited seven local food trucks but only two showed up.

"It's gonna take a little time for people to change their mindset and not pack up the car and get the kids and go away for the weekend to the Jersey shore," said Leticia Remauro, Beach Fest Producer.

Jianetto's Pizza was the other food truck that showed up to the event. The manager tells us business was slow Sunday, and that's why he usually doesn't come to Staten Island.

"There's not enough people, it's not that kind of business on Staten Island, I don't feel," said Jake Tortorello of Jianetto's Pizza.

Still, organizers are optimistic. The beach fest will be held every weekend for 7 more weeks. They say they will continue to promote and invite food trucks.

"We also want to showcase the diversity through foods, I mean I think the food trucks bring value in that way," said Bobby Digi of the North Shore Business Association.

The truck vendors said they appreciate the community's efforts but still had mixed opinions about selling on the island.

"I think Manhattan, Brooklyn now is coming up, where those are the better areas to try," Tortorello said.

"We love it here. We love the people. We get a warm reception," Miscioscia said.
