The Port Authority is putting the finishing touches on the new World Trade Center transportation hub.

The last of about 800 pieces of glass were installed Monday morning.

It's the latest milestone for the area, following the opening of 1 World Trade Center and its observatory.

Construction officials say the transit hub will be a valuable asset to commuters.

"There'll be 11 different subway lines, there'll be ferries there'll be PATH transportation essentially connecting all of Lower Manhattan. It'll be the Lower Manhattan version of Grand Central Station," said WTC Construction Department Director Steven Plate.

The Port Authority says construction on the project is ahead of schedule.

Additional spaces in the area are expected to open over the next several months.
