Millions of New Yorkers are expected to join the holiday travel crush today.
And they'll have plenty of company.
AAA says nearly 42 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from home during the July 4th holiday.
That's the most since 2007.
AAA credits a stronger economy and lower gas prices for the increase.
Nearly 85 percent of travelers are expected to drive to their destination.
They'll be enjoying lower prices at the pump than last year.
The nationwide average for a gallon of regular gas is $2.76.
That's down 90 cents from 2014.
Meanwhile, more than seven million people are expected to use the Port Authority's roads, airports, and rail services.
That includes nearly four million drivers who will cross the agency's six bridges and tunnels.
