A rally in Midtown Friday demanded that the president's executive order on immigration be applied throughout the country.

Protesters and community organizers came together to show support for the president's plan to protect immigrants who came to the U-S as children, as well as immigrant parents of U.S. citizens.

Advocates say they are hoping to not only send a strong message to the court challenging the action, but to immigrants across the country.

"We hope that the courts favor executive action," said City Councilman Carlos Menchaca of Brooklyn. "Our president has been strong on this. Our mayor has been strong on this. We want to make sure that the entire country feels what we're feeling here in New York. That's why advocates came today. They're not one, they're not 10, they're millions of people that are speaking out in one voice.

"We want the lawsuit to be dropped, or we want it to be heard by the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court can decide," said Christina Chang of the New York Immigration Coalition.

The president's plan could protect more than 5 million immigrants from deportation.
