The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating after they say a transgender woman was threatened in Brooklyn.

It happened on July 6 around 10:30 p.m. in Crown Heights.

Police say a group of men approached the 26-year-old victim near Lefferts and Kingston avenues.

They allegedly yelled slurs about her race and orientation and threatened her.

Neighborhood residents say the incident is concerning.

"That's very shocking, especially someone that lives here. It's disturbing to find that certain people around here mess with the way we live," said one resident.

"It's wrong to threaten anyone because of their sexual orientation. White, black, pink, yellow, whatever - each of us has a right to live the way we want to live," said another resident.

No arrests have been made.
