Triple Crown hopeful American Pharoah will be lining up at post number five when he makes his run at history Saturday at the Belmont Stakes.

He is coming into Belmont Park as the favorite at 3-5 in the morning line odds.

The horse started at post number 18 and 1 respectively during his victories at Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

American Pharoah is trying to become the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years.

In the previous 36 years, 12 horses have failed to win the last leg of the Triple Crown after winning the first two races. One horse was scratched due to injury.

The last horse to win the Triple Crown was was Affirmed in 1978.

Meanwhile, announcer Larry Collmus will be at the mic as the horses take to the track this weekend.

He's been calling horse races for 30 years, including every Triple Crown race since 2011.

And since no horse has won the crown since 1978, he hasn't gotten the chance to announce a Triple Crown winner.

He says he would love to make his mark on horse racing history.

"We've listened to all these great calls from the 70's of when Secretariat won, and Affirmed, and Seattle Slew. It would be pretty cool to have my call be one of those," Collmus said. "It's more like it's a call for not now, but for later. For history, where people can go back and watch it over and over again. When the event's happening, everybody's screaming and yelling and they don't know what you said."

Collmus says he thinks American Pharoah is the strongest horse in this year's race - but that doesn't guarantee he will get to announce him as the Triple Crown winner.
