The MTA has debuted new signs that will make it easier for riders to distinguish SBS buses from local buses.

You can see the words "Select Bus Service" illuminated on the front panel of the bus, followed by the bus route.

They used to have flashing blue lights. Those are being replaced because of concerns they could be confused with volunteer emergency vehicles.

The MTA says the new signs will give riders enough time to complete the curbside payment process as the bus approaches.
