Runners laced up their shoes to celebrate LGBT pride Saturday morning, just a day after the Supreme Court voted to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states.

Over 5,000 people took part in the 34th annual Pride Run in Central Park.

Runners who spoke with NY1 say the Supreme Court decision gives this year's event a special meaning.

"I love this run, I run every year. But especially this weekend it's so important that we're all showing our pride and our solidarity," said one runner.

"It's nice to be here when such monumental gay rights moments happen," said another runner.

The annual run is a collaboration between New York Road Runners and Front Runners New York, a club for LGBT runners and their allies.
