The New York City Police Department continues to search for a suspect who escaped from police custody while being taken to Central Booking in Manhattan.

Surveillance video shows Tareek Arnold, 23, still in handcuffs, running away from officers in Harlem Tuesday night.

He was being held on a felony assault charge when he attacked one of the officers and then fled on 134th Street near Eighth Avenue.

Police say Arnold has lived in that area for many years, and is part of a local gang, so he has plenty of places to hide out.

"We've knocked on their doors. We have the regional task force plugged into this as well. So those locations are also out of state but for the majority they're in Manhattan as well. So we feel confident we're going to find him. We have a very tight ring set around Upper Manhattan and the neighboring states," said NYPD Chief Robert Boyce.

Arnold was last seen wearing gray sneakers, a white t-shirt, gray sweatpants, and a grey hooded sweatshirt.

He has a tattoo that says, "Troll" and a tattoo that says "Militant Soldiers."
