The island of Manhattan was transformed into the island of Puerto Rico Sunday as one of the nation's largest parades danced its way up Fifth Avenue.

The parade celebrates Puerto Rico's culture and heritage.

Organizers expected a crowd of a million and a half to line the parade route, and they cheered as another 15,000 passed by. That includes over 40 floats and notable participants like grand marshal Rita Moreno and Mayor Bill de Blasio, who mingled as he marched.

Last year, the parade's board was ousted for misusing funds, but now, this year's was organized by new leadership.
