There were some major road closures throughout all five boroughs Sunday to make room for vehicles on two heels.

Thirty-two thousand cyclists hit the road for the 38th annual TD 5 Boro Bike Tour.

It's a 40-mile journey that promotes cycling as a sport, recreation and transit.

People we spoke with say it really is about enjoying the ride, and the city.

"We're from Brooklyn. We love biking and we wanted to be part of the experience," said one rider.

"Well, we're riding together. We're old friends and it's a beautiful day," another said.

"We don't really prepare too much, just kind of go for it. You know, lots of energy around. It's a beautiful day," said one rider.

From Lower Manhattan, riders head up to Harlem and then the Bronx. They go into Queens and Brooklyn and finally over the Verrazano Bridge, ending on Staten Island. Proceeds support bike education programs.
