The observation deck atop One World Trade Center is now open to the public.

Officials kicked off the celebration Friday morning with a ribbon cutting outside the tower.

Yankees Owner Hal Steinbrenner and Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones were both in attendance as co-owners of the company that will operate the three-story observation deck.

Steinbrenner and the people who got to witness the opening said it's a historic moment for the city and the rest of the country.

"It's been two-plus years of a lot of hard work on a lot of people's behalf, and to get up there and see how great it turned out, and more importantly, to know that people from all over the world, millions a year, are going to come here and learn about the city," Steinbrenner said.

"Now, we're back, and it's a real symbol of hope. And it really rejuvinized us that we do have hope. And that we were up here and one of the first was really special," said one visitor.

Tickets for adults are $32.

There are discounted rates for seniors and children.
