Police shot and killed a man in Brooklyn who they believe was involved in a fatal shooting at the Resorts World Casino in Queens early Tuesday morning.

The shooting in East New York happened just hours after the shooting in South Ozone Park.

Warrant squad officers say when they approached a white Dodge Charger, 51-year-old Dalton Branch began shooting.

Investigators say officers returned fire, hitting Branch. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say they recovered a .380 caliber semi-automatic firearm and ammunition at the scene in Brooklyn. They say they also discovered an extra magazine and a box full of bullets.

Police believe Branch had a relationship with a woman killed outside the casino.

They say the man drove up to Patricia Mohammed and another man and began firing, hitting the 55-year-old multiple times, killing her.

The man she was with was able to escape, but police say the shooter harassed him via text message.

"He has his phone number, the attempted male that he attempts to shoot. He texts him taunting messages, calling himself the Grim Reaper, and then at a point thereafter, he calls a member of the female's family and he tells them basically the same thing," said NYPD Chief Robert Boyce.

Police also say Branch texted Mohammed's relatives that he "wasn't going easy."

Sources say Branch and the man Mohammed was with worked for a bus operator for the casino.

Resorts World was the scene of another violent incident last month. Nearly two dozen people were involved in a brawl that broke out in the casino's food court.

In a statement, a Resorts World Casino spokesperson said, "Resorts World is heartbroken by the tragedy that occurred earlier this morning in the casino’s parking lot. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with the NYPD in the investigation into this incident."
